Hotel description
| Address: |
PIAZZA RAFFAELLO SANZIO 13 CITTA DI CASTELLO Italy |
Hotel Tiferno, which is one of the oldest in Umbria (1895), has been completely restored. It is located in a small square in the historic centre of the hospitable Citta di Castello, in a XIth Century palace that was once the monastery of the church of St. Francis, which is located nearby. Tiferno was the Roman name of the town, and the hotel has preserved the original architecture of this former convent, with its ribbed vaults and large chimneys, but has also acquired a small collection of paintings by Alberto Burri. The modern rooms (38 units) are functional and very comfortable. There is a good restaurant at the hotel offering regional and national cuisine, a conference hall that can hold up to 100 people, private car parking and a garage service. This town is the ideal place to go for walks, excursions on bicycles (which can be rented at the hotel), tours on horseback (there a number of well outfitted stables in the area) or gourmet and wine tasting venues in the country. This sober and elegant establishment is a good stopping point for a tour of Umbria.
