The inn is a liberty style villa built in 1900, now completely restored. The 12 air-conditioned guestrooms feature English style décor with floral fabrics, stenciled borders, period furnishings and tiled floors. All rooms have views over the valley and work desks with dial-up Internet connections, as well as direct-dial phones, cable television and minibars. Hand-made pasta, typical regional specialties such as Sagrantino Gnocchi and Umbrian and Tuscan wines are served in a candlelit, relaxed ambience with exposed stone walls and country furnishings in the hotel restaurant. In summertime food is served in the garden on Deruta ceramic tables. Guests can also relax in the Mazerioli Tea Room which is decorated with bright frescoes and period furnishings, or on the Belevedere Terrace. Leisure facilities at the hotel include an outdoor swimming pool, a gymnasium, a sauna and a solarium. The hotel's conference room provides audio- visual equipment for business seminars, and parking is free for guests arriving with vehicles. THE SLEEPY VILLAGE OF SOLOMEO, LOCATED BETWEEN
PERUGIA AND LAKE TRASIMENO, HAD BEEN ALMOST
COMPLETELY ABANDONED UNTIL A WELL-KNOWN CASHMERE
COMPANY BOUGHT AND RESTORED MOST OF THE TOWN TO
ITS ORIGINAL CHARM. PIER LUIGI CAVICCHI AND HIS
WIFE DONATELLA (WHO RUNS THE FAMILY S
NOT-SO-DISTANT FARM) INHERITED A
TURN-OF-THE-CENTURY VILLA, LOCATED RIGHT IN THE
HEART OF TOWN. PIER LUIGI (WHO HAD SPENT MANY
HAPPY SUMMERS AT THE VILLA) AND HIS WIFE
THOROUGHLY RENOVATED THE PROPERTY AND OPENED IT AS
AN INN IN 1999. THEIR WISH WAS TO MAINTAIN THE
ORIGINAL CHARACTER OF THE BELOVED RESIDENCE WHILE
ADDING ALL POSSIBLE AMENITIES, SUCH AS AIR
CONDITIONING, SATELLITE TV, BATHROOM WITH SHOWER,
HAIR-DRIER, RADIO, TELEPHONE, MINI-BAR, ELECTRONIC
KEY. THE RESULT IS A COMPACT AND QUAINT HOTEL THAT
HAS IT ALL. THE 12 ENGLISH-STYLE COUNTRY BEDROOMS
ARE NAMED AFTER FLOWERS AND THIS THEME IS FOLLOWED
THROUGH IN STENCILED BORDERS, BEDSPREAD FABRICS,
AND BATHROOMS. PRESERVED STENCIL WORK ON WALLS AND
CEILINGS IN THE ENTRANCE, TEA ROOM, AND UPSTAIRS
SITTING ROOM WERE DONE BY THE SAME ARTIST WHO
DECORATED THE TOWN S CHURCH ACROSS THE STREET. THE
BRIGHT BREAKFAST ROOM DOWNSTAIRS HAS STONE WALLS
AND BEAMS AND LEADS TO TERRACES OVERLOOKING THE
COUNTRYSIDE WHERE A GARDEN, SWIMMING POOL,
EXERCISE ROOM WITH SAUNA AND SOLARIUM, MEETING
ROOM, AND TWO GARDEN BEDROOMS ARE SITUATED. THE
RESTAURANT OF LOCANDA SOLOMEO OFFERS TYPICAL
REGIONAL CUISINE PREPARED WITH PRODUCTS AND
INGREDIENTS GROWN IN THE FARM BY ITS COOKS WHO ARE
LADIES OF THE VILLAGE WHO PREPARE EVERY DAY
SUCCULENT DISHES. PASTA AND CAKES ARE HAND-MADE
DAILY. DONATELLA AND PIERO ARE SOMMELIER AND ENJOY
TO PROPOSE THEIR GUESTS THE BEST FOOD & WINE
MATCHING. THE WINE CELLAR OF LOCANDA SOLOMEO
OFFERS A WIDE SELECTION OF UMBRIAN WINE AND SOME
FROM THE CLOSE TUSCANY. DURING SUMMER SEASON
DINNER IS SERVED IN THE GARDEN ON DERUTA CERAMIC
GARDEN TABLES.
