The Radisson SAS Gewandhaus Hotel, a luxurious five star hotel, is located in the heart of the Baroque capital of the Free State of Saxony, Dresden. The history of the Gewandhaus can be traced back to 1295, when the cloth hall was mentioned in documents for the first time. Originally built as a warehouse in 1768-1770 by the famous architect Johann Friedrich Kn?bel, the Gewandhaus was reduced to a burnt-out shell by heavy bombing in 1945. Rebuilt as a hotel in the Sixties, Radisson SAS has now completed a lavish refurbishment programme to let the Gewandhaus reappear with glory and elegance. The 94 rooms, 2 junior suites and 1 crown prince suite of the Radisson SAS Gewandhaus Hotel are all elegantly furnished in the Biedermeier style.
