Located in the centre of medieval Ghent, Monasterium PoortAckere is a serene hotel housed in a former nunnery. Built in a neo-gothic style the property dates back to 1278. The 36 guestrooms are located in three separate buildings and are furnished in natural tones with simple wood furniture. While respecting the building's history and neo gothic architecture, rooms offer the comfort of modern amenities including cable television, direct-dial phones, Internet access and coffee and tea making facilities. The chapter house is open for evening meals on Fridays and Saturdays when guests can enjoy a menu of typical Belgian dishes beneath the beautiful neo-gothic arches. Brussels Airport is 65 kilometres (40 miles) from the hotel, around 60 minutes by car.
