Weaker dollar – stronger hotel industry? Weak dollar is not such an evil for the economy, as
it may seem. While the finance analytics are trying to predict the future of the
dollar rate and its influence on the global markets, US
hotel industry is gathering
dividends from the increasing flow of the foreign tourists. Well, it’s no
surprise, because the citizens of the “euro zone” fell themselves in the US
quite the rich at the moment.
Yes, domestic tourism is declining now,
but international tourism fully compensates this sad fact. According to the U.S.
Department of Commerce, foreign visitors spent $111.6 billion in the first 11
months of 2007, an increase of 13% from the previous year.
By the way,
tourists use not only modest motels for their accommodation. In contrary, the
popularity of the upscale and luxury hotels has increased.
