New airport in India

Last Sunday, March 23rd a new airport started its operation in India. The Rajiv Gandhi International Airport is located near Shamshabad, 25 kilometers from another city, Hyderabad, and replaces the old airport. Rajiv Gandhi Airport is expected to improve the city’s image.

The airport can handle up to 12 million passengers a year. Atluri Subba Rao, chairman of the Federation of Andhra Pradesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FAPCCI), comments that thanks to this wonderful facility Hyderabad can now have air connectivity to all key cities in the world. At the moment the airport serves 21 airlines (this includes 10 domestic and 11 international ones) flying to more than 35 destinations. Even more airlines will connect Hyderabad in future, the British Airways and the Gulf Air among them.

Passengers can stay at the five-star airport hotel and get necessary help at the medical centre. Several commercial projects and a railway station are also expected in the future.
