Disneyland reopens the "House of the Future"
Visitors to the Disneyland park in Anaheim, California, will soon
again be able to visit the "House of the Future", which reopens almost half a
century after it was closed in 1957. The previous house (pictured) was made of
plastic and contained hands-free phones, wall-sized televisions and electric
toothbrushes. No wonder why the attraction was of great success: people are
always interested in what their life will be like many years later.
Disneyland now plans to open a new futuristic house at
Tomorrowland – one of its 9 lands. The project is the result of collaboration of
such giants as Walt Disney Co., Microsoft Corp., Hewlett-Packard Co, along with
software maker LifeWare and homebuilder Taylor Morrison.
Walt Disney will build a 500-square-meter abode containing two
bedrooms, a kitchen, dining room, living room and a study. The “smart house”
will amaze visitors with all kinds of “futuristic” appliances like a kitchen
countertop with a touch pad that identifies the products you put on it and
suggests menus, the closet which gives information on which clothes was sent to
the dry-cleaner’s and mirrows that advise on colour combinations for your party.
Digital photos, videos and music will be transferred among TV sets and computers
in different rooms, and loading photos to your cell phone will be easy by just
placing the phone on the desk.
