Baltic Princess cruise ferry launched in Helsinki
In the beginning of March a new cruise ferry Baltic
Princess, ordered by Tallink Silja, was launched at Aker Yards shipyard in
Helsinki. Cruises from Tallinn to Helsinki will start this summer. The 212 meter long
and 29 meter wide Baltic Princess is one of the largest cruise
ferries of the Baltic sea. The vessel is capable of carrying 2800 passengers. It
contains 927 cabins, along with several restaurants and a spacious conference hall for 450 persons,
thus providing all the comforts and luxury a discriminating traveler needs.
Baltic Princess will replace another vessel, Galaxy, which will
now serve the Turku – Stockholm route, and Festival, which will be rerouted to
Stockholm – Riga route. Baltic Princess is the fourth cruise ship built by Aker
Yards for Tallink. The fifth vessel will follow – construction has already
started in the Rauma yard.
