Best Zoos of the World
Modern zoos differ from many people’s
idea of them. Opposite to the past, nowadays animals are kept in habitats close
to natural ones, and visitors have an opportunity to observe the creatures from
all around the planet. Here is the list of the World’s Best Zoos, by Forbes
Traveler.
The best zoo is Animal Kingdom in
Orlando, USA. This is the world’s biggest Disney theme park with 7 theme areas
where visitors can observe white rhinos, gerenuks, naked mole rats and other
animals.
Basel Zoo in Switzerland is in the
second place. Opened in 1874, it is the home for more than 6 thoudsand animals
(600 animal species), including the rare ones like dwarf hippopotami and scarab
beetles. Coming next is the Beauval Zoo in France, with 2000 birds and 4
thousand animal species, including the white tigers and manatees.
The list also includes Berlin
Zoological Garden, Bronx Zoo (New York), Chester Zoo (U.K), Prague Zoological
Garden, San Diego Zoo, Schonbrunner Zoo (Austria), Smithsonian National
Zoological Park (Washington, DC) and other zoos.
