US Airways will charge for extra bags
US Airways joins the list of airlines charging for extra bags. The first to
introduce the fee was United Airlines, which started charging passengers for a
second bag last month. Following United Airlines, US Airways will now charge
fliers $25 to check a second bag. The charge will apply to all flights not only
within the United States, but also to Canada, Latin America, the Caribbean and
Europe.
One bag will still be checked free of charge. The fee will also be waived for
most frequent customers, dividend miles preferred members, Star Alliance Silver
and Gold status members, active military personnel, unaccompanied minors and
customers checking assistive devices.
