Alter Group plans a new hotel near McCormick Place convention center, Chicago
 A Chicago-based construction group - Alter Group, has acquired a 3.7-acre
site on Cermak Road and Prairie Avenue with the aim of constructing a large
hotel complex there.
According to Matthew Ward, Alter Group senior vice president, the project is
still “raw”, but the hotel will probably include two 22-storied towers: one
traditional 1000-room hotel with a conference centre, and another probably for
longer stays, with 500 rooms. The complex might also include restaurants,
meeting space, shops and parking. Construction will start in 12-18 months and
will take two years.
The hotel will be located next to McCormick Place convention center, which
makes it an excellent destination for business guests. At the moment the only
hotel in the vicinity to the centre is the 600-room Hyatt Regency McCormick Place.
