Multimedia tours around Musee du Louvre
 Many say the times of audio guides will soon be over – judging by
the innovations launched by Musée du Louvre, Paris – this prognosis is likely to
come true. The museum now offers multimedia guides on 9 different thematic
routes, lasting 45 to 120 minutes. Soon there will be several more guides added.
You can choose multimedia tours around separate collections, like the “Antique
art”, “Italian art”, temporary expositions etc. There is even a special kids
tour 1 hour long, which introduces children to the world of the Ancient Egypt,
and a tour for the disabled. All of them are available in several languages.
At the moment multimedia tours include comments on 200 exhibits –
tiny numbers, if you consider the fact that there are about 35.000 objects in
the museum. The number of guides will be increased, though.
