La Mostra del Tartufo - The Black Truffle Fair
 The last weekend of February is the time for gourmets to hasten
to the Italian Umbrian city of Norcia, which hosts the traditional Mostra del
Tartufo. Organised February 23th – 24th , this is
the mother of all the Italian truffle events. Local truffle caterers do their
best to represent their goods in the most unusual, mouth-watering way.
Following various performances and sports events, there is a grand feast
organised. According to traditional recipes, truffels are sprinkled over the
tagliatelle pasta and are also served with fish and roast meat.
Truffels are not the only dish Norcia is known for. You are
strongly recommended to try prosciutto and Parma’s ham, sausages and spiced salami. There
are excellent wines and honey produced in the town as well.
