BioPark – new zoo in Valencia
February 27th, 2008 a new Zoo will be opened in Valencia, Spain. Called
BioPark, the zoo will be located within Parque de Cabecera, north of the former
Turia riverbed. The park was to be opened last July, then the opening was
rescheduled for September, but was postponed for various reasons.
BioPark visitors will observe its dwellers in their natural habitats. Instead
of cages, animals will be separated from visitors with plants, rocks, rivers and
lakes. Parque de Cabecera and the BioPark will have an overall territory of 80
thousand sq. meters. The new zoo will house 250 African, Asian and American
animal species and will be 14 times bigger than the existing one.
