The longest arch bridge will appear in Dubai
Fxfowle Architects, an architectural firm from New York, has been selected as
a designer of the longest arch bridge proposed to be built in Dubai, UAE. The
structure will include an archway rising 205,1 meters above 12 traffic lanes
capable of handling 20,000 vehicles per hour. Another feature is the metro line
passing through the centre of the bridge. The bridge will force out the Lupu
Bridge in Shanghai, China, from its current position of the world’s longest arch
bridge.
The new bridge will become the sixth thoroughfare crossing the Dubai harbor.
Construction will start in March 2008 and will have been finished by 2012.
