New airport to be built in Warsaw
The second Warsaw airport will appear 40km west of the
city, at Sochaczew. The airport will occupy the former military airport,
construction will start in 2009. The first plane is supposed to take off in
2011.
The airport will mainly offer low
cost carrier service, since the number of budget fliers to/ from Warsaw has
noticeably increased during the last years. As for the first city airport,
Warsaw Okecie Airport (pictured), it might soon reach its capacity limits: the
airport traffic has grown three times higher during the last 10 years and is
likely to increase even greater.
