Swedish castle will use milk to heat its rooms
Wapnö castle (outside of Halmstad in Sweden) will use
warm milk to heat its 50 rooms. To keep the milk fresh and preserve its quality,
it is cooled down to 3 degrees centrigrade. The process is accompanied by the
release of energy. This energy will be used to heat up the castle and other
buildings.
Built in the
XVIII century, Wapnö is located within a farmstead. The farm’s 1100 cows produce
some 30,000 litres of milk per day. Despite the surprised reaction this
“invention” may bring, the company assures that the cooling process won’t affect the taste and
sanitary safety of the milk.
