Copthorne Hotel opened in Dubai
An “Islamic” Copthorne hotel, managed by Millenium hotel group, was
recently opened in Dubai (UAE). The hotel’s main feature is its “more decent
treatment” in services and conformity with Sharia laws. For instance, it does
not serve alcohol, doesn’t broadcast western music (you will hear natural sounds
like chirping of birds instead), and has separate timings for men and women in
the swimming pool. Women working at the hotel won’t be covered up, however, will
dress decently. More hotels of the kind are likely to appear in the UAE soon.
