France – the most visited country in the world
2007 has become the record year for the travel industry
of France – more than 80
million tourists visited this country during the last 12 months. The largest
amount of the foreigners came from the United Kingdom and Ireland.
One of the
reasons of this success is rugby world cup held in the autumn. Millions of sport
fans contributed a lot to the positive results of 2007.
France is also
popular among the Americans and Asians. 2007 marked the largest number of the
tourists from USA
since 2001. The figures for the tourists from Austria and Germany have remained the
same.
Nowadays France attracts more visitors than any other country in
the world, but it is only the third in the list of the countries with the
biggest income from travel industry, after USA and Spain. French government has
prepared a plan “Destination France – 2020” aimed to change this
situation and put France on the first place.
