From London to Paris – in 2 hours
For the first time a train trip from Paris to
London took only 2 hours. September 4th Eurostar express
train made an inaugural journey from Paris to St. Pancras train station, London
using a new high-speed line. The trip took 2 hours, 3 minutes, 39 seconds. The
train moved with a maximum speed of 202mph (325km/h) in France and 195mph (312
km/h) in Britain. However, regular trips will take a bit longer – starting from
the middle of November, they will take 2 hours 15 minutes.
Tickets for the first St. Pancras – Paris trips
(November 14th) have already been sold. In past, London trains were
setting off for Paris from the Waterloo station. Introduction of this new
service means more conveniences for people from the north of London, who had to
get to Waterloo by train or bus. Also, the new route will help cut the traveling
time by 20 minutes.
A
trip from London to Brussels will now take 1 hour 51 minutes.
