Every third Thursday in November, the Beaujolais Nouveau's season starts. The young red wine holiday has crossed the boundaries of France and is nowadays massively celebrated worldwide, including the United States, where it is promoted as a popular Thanksgiving Day drink. However, the best location to get oneself familiarized with all the tints of the drink is its homeland, France. Mind that you’ve only got some 6-8 weeks to try it fresh. Didn’t have the chance to visit the Beaujolais region during the holiday? You will definitely be offered a huge variety of themed events and wine tastings in Paris during the season. Check the Beaujolais Nouveau fruity flavours at wine tasting sessions held at numerous restaurants, bars, and cafes throughout the city. Make sure the wine is slightly chilled, as it should be. We’re quite certain your hotel will host some kind of event to celebrate the arrival of Beaujolais Nouveau.

Photography Month in Paris. Throughout November. Various locations
The month of November pays tribute to one of the most accessible art genres, photography. Various venues are involved in the event, showcasing the masterpieces by experienced and upcoming photographers from around the world. Fondation Le Corbusier, Galerie du Pont Neuf, Espace photographique de l’Hôtel de Sauroy, Musée Carnavalet, MoMO Galerie, Bibliothèque nationale de France and numerous other locations will all host themed events. But the most important of those is the International Photo Fair at the Carrousel de Louvre. The 18th edition of the Mois de la Photo is focused on three main themes: Mediterranean photography, Anonymous and Amateur Photography and The Heart of the Intimate. Big Bang Theory. 7 – 8 November 2014. Espace Grande Arche
This event has nothing to do with the famous scientific theory. Or even the popular American sitcom. In fact, it’s a bustling techno music event for the night owls and clubbers that has conquered the hearts of the many due to its impressive line-up. DJs from around the world will play their sets at Espace Grande Arche, the roomy event space right under the Arche de la Defense. The list of this year’s participants includes Moodymann, Josh Wink, Anja Schneider, Max Cooper, Matador, Christian Smith, Rodriguez Jr., Recondite, Gary Beck and others. The venue is located in the commune of Puteaux, west of Paris. The best way to get there is by Paris Metro Line 1, stations La Defense – Grande Arche and Esplanade de la Defense.

Armistice Day. 11 November 2014. Various locations
The Armistice Day is a very special day for the whole country. On November 11th France, and Paris in particular, commemorates the victims if the World War I and subsequent wars with a number of solemn events. The day starts with the minute of silence exactly at 11 am. Then, during the day, numerous church services and commemoration events are held in Paris and all over the country. But one of the most important parts of the holiday is the military parade that starts at the Arc de Triomphe and the wreath-laying ceremony at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. Many people wear dark clothes on the day. Also don’t forget that the Armistice Day is a public holiday so many offices, stores and banks will be closed.

Salon de la Photo. 13 – 17 November 2014. Paris Expo
Photography professionals and those who want to become ones are invited to another event as part of the Photography Month. Salon de la Photo takes place mid-November at Paris Expo Porte de Versailles, which is outside the city centre. During the five event days the most important brands specializing on everything photography-themed, from cameras and accessories to printing equipment and software, will exhibit and demonstrate their production at the Expo. Professionals and fans are also invited to the bookstore, the retail village and several themed exhibitions. Remember that in the times of high technology photography has become a widely spread hobby, so the exhibition will probably appeal to the major public as well. Last year, more than 85 thousand visitors attended the Salon de la Photo. The best way to get to the Porte de Versailles station is by metro (Line 12), tramway (Line 3 and Line 2) or a bus (Line 39 and Line 80).

Africolor. 15 November – 21 December 2014. Seine-Saint-Denis
This November the department of Seine-Saint-Denis northeast of Paris will be warmed up with the moving African rhythms as part of the Africolor festival. The 25th festival edition will host music concerts, film scores, competitions, dance and other events. More than 30 guest musicians are invited to participate in the Africolor: Ogoya Nengo, Marie-Claude Jolicoeur, Marie Menda Cupidon, Malya Saadi are among those. The festival takes place at numerous locations, including: Universite Paris 13 (Bobigny), Forum (Le Blanc-Mesnil), Foyer Branly an Le Melies (Montreuil) etc. You can get to the towns of the Seine-Saint-Denis by Paris Metro. Line depends on where exactly you want to get to.

Paris Comics Expo. 22 – 23 November. Espace Champerret
The comics fever is in the air. Definitely, the industry is on the rise, and if you’re one of those who follow the adventures of Batman, Superman, Green Lantern and everyone else, your destination in Paris is Espace Champerret. Conferences, cosplays for kids and grown-ups, masterclasses, workshops and discussions form a significant part of the Paris Comics Expo programme. But the true fans are definitely there for one important thing: autographs. The event will feature writers, publishers and even actors, so make sure your pen is okay and your iPod has enough free space. Ticket cost is approx. €9 - €17.
